Personal use
On the sign-in page, click "Continue with Google" and choose your Google account. If you are new, an account is created for you on the free plan. There is no password to register.
You can check your plan under "Plan" in My Account.
Team use
On the sign-in page, choose "Using Anota with your team? Sign in here", enter the team (tenant) ID from your administrator, and sign in with your Google or Microsoft account. You can also open the invitation email (or the login URL) from your administrator.
If you cannot sign in, contact your tenant administrator.
Creating and editing notes
Create a note with the "New Note" button. You can write in Markdown or edit visually with the rich editor.
Upload images by pasting or drag and drop. Each image can be up to 5 MB.
Each note has a "Visibility" setting, such as "Follow folder setting" or "Only me".
Folders
Organize notes into folders. Select a folder in the left pane to list the notes in it.
Each folder has a visibility setting (Public / Members only / Private), and its notes follow that setting by default.
Search
Enter keywords in the search box at the top to find notes by title and body. Body text is searched in the 300 most recent notes.
Notes you do not have permission to view are not shown in the results.
Bookmarks
Use the "Bookmark" button on a note to save the notes you use often.
Open saved notes from "Bookmarks" in the left pane. Press the button again to remove the bookmark.
Comments
Use "Add Comment" at the bottom of a note to post a comment.
If your administrator has set up a webhook, comments are also sent to Slack or Teams.
Trash
Deleted notes are moved to the Trash instead of being removed right away. Open "Trash" in the left pane and choose "Restore" to bring a note back.
Notes in the Trash are deleted automatically after 30 days.
Recently viewed
Notes you opened recently are listed under "Recently viewed" in the left pane. Click one to go back to it.
This history is stored in your browser, so it is not shared with other browsers or devices.
My Account
Open My Account from the account button in the left pane. You can change your password there (at least 8 characters).
API keys let AI agents and external scripts use Anota. Choose the scopes (Read / Write) and an expiration period when you create one.
You can show and copy a key again at any time with "Show" in the key list. Anyone who knows a key can work with your notes, so share it only with people and tools you trust. Use "Revoke" to disable keys that leaked or that you no longer need.
For how to use the API (endpoints, request and response formats, MCP), see the API help.
